====== DODSORNET ======

DODSORNET is a [[https://tailscale.com//|tailscale]] network which took over from the previous tinc network.

Originally created in an effort to play 0 A.D but has later been repurposed and is the only way to reach certain services. It also provides authentication for some services.

===== Features =====

* You can freely access your own devices as if you were on the same local network. By default, other people cannot connect to your devices.
  * If you want to expose a service to the network just ask Dandellion to add a rule allowing it.
  * You can also make a whole server accessible by adding a tag to it.
  * If you want to make sure no one can ever access a device (even if I were to add a rule allowing it). Enable "Shields up". See [[https://tailscale.com/kb/1072/client-preferences|Tailscale docs]] for more info
* Most dodsorfas services will automatically pick up and use the VPN if available
  * That means no one on your network can see what service you are using, just the VPN connection
* While using the VPN you will be automatically logged into some services.

===== Setup guide =====

The steps are a little different based on what platform you are setting it up for.

Generally you can find the required program on [[https://tailscale.com/download]] (Also available on F-Droid/The Google Play Store)

* If you are on windows, follow the steps on [[https://vpn.dodsorf.as/windows]]
  * This has had some issues sometimes, if you can't get it to work its ok to ask for help.
  * There are also some troubleshooting steps available at [[https://headscale.net/0.23.0/usage/connect/windows/]]
* On Android, simply download and open the app, tap settings, then click `Accounts`, then press the three dots (a kebab menu, as it is called), then hit `Use an alternate server`. Type in https://vpn.dodsorf.as
* If you are on an apple device (iOS/MacOS/tvOS) follow the instructions on [[https://vpn.dodsorf.as/apple]]

After this is complete, you will get a web pop up to our single sign on solution. Here you will log in using your SSO username and password. See [[infrastructure:sso|SSO]] for info if you don’t have an account here.

After you login, you will have access to the VPN!
